There was no surprise when 8th ranked Belenenses CF (9-13) was crushed on the road by second ranked Esgueira / Oli (15-7) 87-64 on Sunday. Esgueira / Oli made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Belenenses CF outrebounded Esgueira / Oli 40-28 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Dee Franklin (196, college: Ft.Valley St.) stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Samuel Loio (180-89) chipped in 11 points. Franklin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was power forward Pedro Bagio (194-79) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tiago Brito (180-85) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Esgueira / Oli maintains second place in Places 1-8 with 15-7 record having eight points less than leader Imortal. Loser Belenenses CF keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost.
