Regular Season Round 27: Batumi - Dinamo Tbilisi 80-83

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Superleague took place in Batumi. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Batumi (12-12) to third ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (16-8) 83-80 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Batumi won third quarter 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Dinamo Tbilisi won last quarter 19-18. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for international center Ilia Londaridze (205-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Lavell Boyd (183-94, college: UMKC) helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Stefan Andrejevic (206-93) with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Eric Childress (183-94, college: UCSB) scored 14 points. Five Dinamo Tbilisi and four Batumi players scored in double figures. Batumi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Rustavi. Batumi at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Dinamo Tbilisi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Batumi will play at home against the league's leader Kutaisi (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
