Regular Season Round 25: Neptunas - Juventus 87-91

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Neptunas (21-7) against seventh ranked Juventus (10-18) on Saturday night. Host Neptunas was defeated by Juventus in a tough game in Klaipeda 87-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Neptunas. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Neptunas won second period 27-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Juventus players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Neptunas was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Dovis Bickauskis (191-93, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 22 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) responded with 22 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juventus maintains seventh place with 10-18 record. Neptunas at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Juventus will play against higher ranked Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neptunas will play at home against P.Zvaigzdes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
