Bisons Loimaa held off HNMKY U23 in the opener. It looked good early as HNMKY U23 took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Loimaan Korikonkarit had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and HNMKY U23 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-85. Loimaan Korikonkarit made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 HNMKY U23 turnovers. American forward Josh Caldwell (203, college: William Penn, agency: SDJ Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Brandon Norfleet (196-93, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (193-81) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Sakari Laakso (194-97) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for HNMKY U23 in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
