There was a small surprise in Floreat where seventh ranked Flames (3-2) edged 5th ranked Hawks (3-2) 90-87 on Saturday. Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Hawks were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Josh Ritchart (205-92, college: Cal-Davis) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Ryan Godfrey (187-90, college: W.Georgia) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Hawks' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Flames moved-up to fifth place in League. Flames will face Lightning (#7) in North Lake in the next round. Hawks will play on the road against Suns in Kalamunda and hope to win that game.
