There was a small surprise in Ulverstone where leader NW Tasmania Thunder (1-0) edged second-ranked Kilsyth Cobras (1-1) 72-70 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 24-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Center Darcy Malone (213-95, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American forward Jeremiah Ingram (201-93, college: N.C.Central) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four NW Tasmania Thunder players scored in double figures. Forward Chris Patton (208-91, college: Cal-Riverside) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American Isaac Turner (191-92, college: St.Vincent) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. NW Tasmania Thunder left bottom position moving up to third place in League. Loser Kilsyth Cobras dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face Chargers (#7) in Hobart in the next round. Kilsyth Cobras will play at home against Frankston Blues and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
