Very expected game when 9th ranked Nevezis (8-22) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Siauliai (12-17) 90-73 on Sunday. The game without a history. Siauliai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 42 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nevezis 42-21 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Siauliai looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Arminas Urbutis (206-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and Russian Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Nevezis' coach Ramunas Cvirka tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Siauliai maintains fifth position with 12-17 record. Loser Nevezis keeps the ninth place with 22 games lost. Siauliai will meet P.Zvaigzdes (#6) in the next round. Nevezis will play against Vytautas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
