Regular Season Round 3: Culiacan - Navolato 71-83

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Caballeros de Culiacan (2-1) at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Garra Canera de Navolato (2-1) 83-71. Garra Canera de Navolato made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Caballeros de Culiacan turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Hameed Ali (188-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Garra Canera de Navolato's coach Andres Contreras used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Jorge Alfredo Casillas (196-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Merrill Holden (203-93, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Five Garra Canera de Navolato and four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play again on the road against Garra Canera de Navolato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
