Regular Season Round 6: BA CoE - Ballarat M. 90-83

There was an upset in Canberra where top-ranked Ballarat Miners (1-1) were defeated by top-ranked BA CoE (1-0) 90-83 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-83. The best player for the winners was swingman Daniel Grida (195) who scored 22 points. Power forward Samson Froling (210-0) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. BA CoE's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Peter Hooley (193-92, college: Albany) who recorded 22 points and 4 assists and naturalized Greek forward Nic Pozoglou (198-96) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four BA CoE and five Ballarat Miners players scored in double figures. BA CoE left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Ballarat Miners dropped to the third position with one game lost. BA CoE will face league's leader Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Ballarat Miners will play at home against NW Tasmania Thunder and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
