Regular Season Round 28: Siauliai - Neptunas 77-76

The most exciting game of round 28 in the LKL took place in Siauliai. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Neptunas (22-9) to fifth ranked Siauliai (13-18) 77-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Neptunas won fourth quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 assists. International power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) replied with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) added 14 points in the effort for Neptunas. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai maintains fifth position with 13-18 record, which they share with P.Zvaigzdes. Neptunas at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. Siauliai is looking forward to face league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas in Vilnius in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Neptunas will play on the road against Lietkabelis in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
