Regular Season Round 6: Geraldton B. - Joondalup W. 100-96

Date: April 14, 2018
There was a minor upset in Wonthella where top-ranked Wanneroo (5-1) was defeated by fourth ranked Buccaneers (5-1) 100-96 on Saturday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in League. Buccaneers made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game, while Wanneroo only scored ten points from the stripe. Wanneroo was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Gokul Natesan (196-94, college: Colorado Mines, agency: Haylett Sports) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists. Forward Colter Lasher (201-94, college: Houston Baptist, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jalen Billups (198-92, college: N.Kentucky, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 27 points and 5 rebounds and guard Brian Sullivan (180-93, college: Davidson) added 17 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Wanneroo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Buccaneers moved-up to second place in League. Buccaneers will face Lightning (#7) in North Lake in the next round where they are favorite. Wanneroo will play at home against Cougars (#11) and hope to win that game.
