Regular Season Round 30: Gijon - Coruna II 84-56

Very expected game when 13th ranked Coruna II (10-18) was smashed on the road by second ranked Gijon (21-7) 84-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gijon. Coruna II was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Coruna II 43-25 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Malik Wineglass (203, college: Harris-Stowe St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import point guard Kenny Hatch (180, college: Texas A&M Int.) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Jorge Castineira added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Coruna II. Gijon maintains second position in Group A-B with 21-7 record having just five point less than leader Vic. Newly promoted Coruna II keeps the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Gijon will face Innova Chef (#9) in Zamora in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coruna II will play at home against Betanzos (#5) and hope to win that game.
