No shocking result in a game in Athens where second ranked Holargos (22-5) defeated 13th ranked Marousi (10-17) 72-62 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 42-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Holargos made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Marousi was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American-Hungarian forward Rashad Bell (203-82, college: Boston U.) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Australian guard Triantafillos Tzakopoulos (185-85) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-98) who recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Andreas Rekouniotis (200-95) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Holargos maintains second place with 22-5 record having four points less than leader Peristeri GS. Newly promoted Marousi keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Holargos will face bottom-ranked AE Larissas (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Marousi will play against Iraklis in Thessaloniki and hope to win that game.
