Regular Season Round 29: Orleans - Poitiers 87-71

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Entente Orleans 45 (23-6) defeated at home 14th ranked Poitiers (9-20) 87-71. The game was mostly controlled by Entente Orleans 45. Poitiers was better in third quarter 25-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Entente Orleans 45 won last quarter 28-14. They also forced 22 Poitiers turnovers. Strangely Poitiers outrebounded Entente Orleans 45 39-24 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Cameroonian center Junior MBida (204-90) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Entente Orleans 45 players scored in double figures. American-Dominican guard Anthony Goods (191-87, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Ron Anderson (205-89, college: S.Florida, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Entente Orleans 45. They maintain second place with 23-6 record behind leader Blois. Poitiers at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Entente Orleans 45's next round opponent will be Nantes (#15) at home which should be an easy win for them. Poitiers will play against the league's leader ADA Blois and hope to win that game.
