Regular Season Round 30: Bayreuth - Ratiopharm 88-75

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked BBC Bayreuth (20-11) defeated at home 10th ranked ratiopharm Ulm (14-16) 88-75 on Friday. BBC Bayreuth dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ratiopharm Ulm's 36 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) notched 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-89) supported him with 16 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) did not help to save the game for ratiopharm Ulm. American guard Katin Reinhardt (198-93, college: Marquette) added 19 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BBC Bayreuth maintains fourth position with 20-11 record. ratiopharm Ulm lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 16 games lost. BBC Bayreuth will meet at home Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ratiopharm Ulm will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) and hope to secure a win.
