Regular Season Round 55: Yamagata - Hiroshima D. 85-76

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Dragonflies (29-25) lost on the road to third ranked Yamagata (25-29) 85-76 on Saturday. Yamagata shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Quite impressive performance for American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Masanari Masanari (186-91) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Yamagata players scored in double figures. Yamagata's coach Joe Cook used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Yamagata maintains third place with 25-29 record having eight points less than leader Akita NH. Loser Dragonflies dropped to the fourth position with 25 games lost. Yamagata will face again Dragonflies (#4) in Hiroshima in the next round.
