Regular Season Round 31: La Fecha - Zornotza 64-95

Everything went according to plan in Arroyo Encomienda where second ranked Zornotza (27-2) outscored bottom-ranked La Fecha (13-16) 95-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Zornotza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Zornotza outrebounded La Fecha 48-31 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Duane Morgan (198-93, college: Adelphi) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Unai Mendicote (196-99) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Millan Lopez (185-94) responded with 18 points and guard Jorge Martinez (181-96) scored 13 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Zornotza. They keep a position of Group A-A leader, which they share with Estela. Loser La Fecha dropped to the bottom place with 16 games lost. Zornotza will face BIOK2.COM OKE (#12) in Ordizia in the next round which should be another easy win for them. La Fecha will play on the road against Easo in San Sebastian and hope to win that game.
