Regular Season Round 7: Canberra G. - Geelong S. 81-107

Undefeated Canberra Gunners (0-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by leader Geelong Supercats (2-0) 107-81. Canberra Gunners were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward John Davis (196-94, college: Towson) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) helped adding 25 points. At the losing side guard Daniel Joyce (194-87) responded with 25 points and 4 assists and American center Eric Gaff (208-87, college: Grace Coll.) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Canberra Gunners players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Geelong Supercats moved-up to fourth place in League. Canberra Gunners at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Geelong Supercats will play against higher ranked Ballarat Miners (#3) in Wendouree in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canberra Gunners will play on the road against Tigers (#7) in Melbourne and hope to get finally their first victory.
