Regular Season Round 26: Darussafaka - Banvit BK 85-88

The most exciting game of round 26 in the BSL took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Darussafaka (15-11) to fifth ranked Banvit (17-9) 88-85 on Sunday evening. Banvit made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Darussafaka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Canadian-American guard Andrew Rautins (193-86, college: Syracuse) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. American-Italian Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Banvit players scored in double figures. American guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-93, college: Florida) produced 28 points and 8 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Darussafaka's coach David Blatt tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Banvit have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Besiktas. Darussafaka at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Banvit is looking forward to face higher ranked Anadolu Efes (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Darussafaka will play on the road against Trabzonspor and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
