Regular Season Round 36: Groningen - Amsterdam 90-61

Eredivisie top team - Groningen (26-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Amsterdam (9-23) 90-61. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Amsterdam was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Groningen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Amsterdam's 26. They outrebounded Amsterdam 48-28 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by Rienk Mast (203-1) who scored that evening 18 points and 9 rebounds and Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84, agency: Court Side) supported him with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Groningen players scored in double figures. Even 7 points and 7 rebounds by power forward Jesse Markusse (206-92) did not help to save the game for Amsterdam. The former international point guard Aaron Roye (184-88) added 12 points. Amsterdam's coach Patrick Faydherbe gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Groningen have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 26-4 record. Amsterdam at the other side keeps the seventh place with 23 games lost. Groningen will play against league's second-placed Den Bosch on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amsterdam will have a break next round.
