Regular Season Round 8: Eastern M. - Sturt S. 96-94

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Mt. Barker where 9th ranked Sturt Sabres (2-5) were edged by tenth ranked Eastern Mavericks (1-6) 96-94 on Wednesday. Sturt Sabres were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jake Rios (188-86, college: Georgia Coll.) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward William Wise (206-92, college: Dominican, NY) who added 22 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Wise is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Eastern Mavericks' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Dylan Rawson responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 19 rebounds and swingman Tim Klaosen (196-89) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Eastern Mavericks maintains tenth position in League with 1-6 record. Loser Sturt Sabres dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
