There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Gran Canaria II (12-19) beat on the road higher ranked Real Madrid II (22-7) 82-76 on Saturday. Strangely Real Madrid II outrebounded Gran Canaria II 49-36 including 22 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Polish center Aleksander Balcerowski (216-0, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Center Pamor Diene (208-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Swedish guard Melwin-Jan Pantzar (190-0) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and Senegalese center Amar Sylla (206-1) added 11 points and 16 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Real Madrid II's coach Javier Juarez tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gran Canaria II maintains tenth position in Group B with 12-19 record. Loser Real Madrid II dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Gran Canaria II will face higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (#8) in Santa Cruz de Ten. in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Madrid II will play on the road against Alcobendas (#6) and hope to win that game.
