Regular Season Round 27: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi T-A 86-79

An interesting game for Maccabi Ashdod (18-9) which hosted in Ashdod leader Maccabi T-A (18-9). Third ranked Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a 7-point victory 86-79. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Cameron Long (192-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) accounted for 18 points and 8 assists for the winning side. American point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: Cleveland St.) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Maccabi T-A in the defeat. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Neven Spahija tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Maccabi T-A lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Hapoel Jerusalem (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Maccabi T-A's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tel-Aviv Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
