Regular Season Round 24: AEK - Promitheas 75-76

The most exciting game of round 24 in the A1 took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked AEK (14-10) to third ranked Promitheas (16-8) 76-75 on Friday evening. Promitheas outrebounded AEK 45-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was international Christos Saloustros (201-90) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Langston Hall (193-91, college: Mercer, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Five Promitheas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and American-Guyanese forward Delroy James (203-87, college: Rhode Island) added 11 points respectively. AEK's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Promitheas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-8 record having eight points less than leader Panathinaikos. AEK at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Lavrio. Promitheas are looking forward to face Lavrio (#6) at home in the next round. AEK's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
