Regular Season Round 31: Nancy - Poitiers 69-65

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Poitiers (10-21) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Sluc Nancy (19-12) 69-65. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Poitiers was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Sluc Nancy, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Poitiers 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Canadian-Jamaican swingman Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Sluc Nancy's coach Gregor Beugnot used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Morris Curry (181-87, college: Providence) came up with 25 points and point guard Arnaud Thinon (178-87) added 9 points respectively for Poitiers in the defeat. Sluc Nancy maintains seventh place with 19-12 record. Poitiers at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 21 games lost. Sluc Nancy's next round opponent will be league's leader ADA Blois at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Poitiers will play against Nantes (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
