Regular Season Round 1: San German - Arecibo 87-97

Another interesting game for Capitanes (1-0) which played in San German against Atleticos (0-1). Capitanes had an easy win 97-87. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticos' 38. American-Nigerian Ike Ofoegbu (205-84, college: SMU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American guard O.J. Mayo (193-87, college: USC) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Rasham Suarez (190-92, college: S.Mississippi) scored 14 points and 9 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capitanes will play against Leones (#4) in Juana Diaz in the next round. Atleticos will play at home against Humacao (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record.
