Faenza upset Bologna in the opener. Faenza shot 24 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Bologna only scored seven points from the stripe. Faenza had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bologna was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Lucia Morsiani (186-92) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Faenza players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international point guard Raelin DAlie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Federica Nannucci (170-91) scored 14 points.
