Regular Season Round 2: Ponce - Arecibo 91-86

Very important is a road loss of Capitanes (1-2) against Leones (2-1) on Thursday night. Visiting Capitanes were defeated by Leones in a tough game in Juana Diaz 86-91. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Young (206-94, college: Pittsburgh) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The former international guard Cliff Duran (191-89, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Forward Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) produced 27 points and the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leones will meet Santeros (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Capitanes will play against Vaqueros in Bayamon and hope to win that game.
