Regular Season Round 10: Joondalup W. - Lakeside L. 56-74

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Wanneroo (4-6) lost to first ranked Lightning (9-1) in Joondalup 56-74 on Saturday. Lightning made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American swingman Ali Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Courtney Byrnes (180-93) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Forward Amy Kidner (183, college: N.Colorado) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Nikita-Lee Martin (184-88) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Wanneroo. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lightning maintains first position in League with 9-1 record. Loser Wanneroo dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Lightning will face Magic (#4) in Mandurah in the next round. Wanneroo will play on the road against Tigers (#5) in Willetton and hope to win that game.
