Regular Season Round 4: Bayamon - Humacao 89-93

Top ranked Vaqueros (4-2) recorded its second loss in Bayamon on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Humacao (3-2) 93-89. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaqueros won third quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Humacao made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Vaqueros turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Humacao especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American guard Alonzo Gee (198-87, college: Alabama) fired 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Javier Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) added 18 points, 9 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Five Humacao and four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Vaqueros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Humacao moved-up to third place. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Ponce. Humacao are looking forward to face Santeros (#7) in Coamo in the next round. Vaqueros will play on the road against Piratas (#5) in Quebradillas and are hoping to win this game.
