Regular Season Round 7: Arecibo - Humacao 75-71

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Arecibo. Second ranked Capitanes faced 4th placed Humacao. Host Capitanes (6-4) defeated guests from Humacao (5-4) 75-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Humacao won third quarter 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. The former international point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) helped adding 14 points and 7 assists. At the losing side the former international center Kleon Penn (213-86, college: McNeese St., agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Alonzo Gee (198-87, college: Alabama) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Capitanes and four Humacao players scored in double figures. Capitanes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-4 record behind leader Bayamon, which they share with Quebradillas. Newly promoted Humacao keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Capitanes will again meet Humacao (#4) on the road in the next round. Humacao will have a break next round.
