Regular Season Round 8: Quebradillas - San German 80-100
Date: May 26, 2018
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Piratas (6-5) against eighth ranked Atleticos (3-9) on Saturday night. Host Piratas were crushed by Atleticos in Quebradillas 100-80. The game was mostly controlled by Atleticos. Piratas managed to win third quarter 26-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Piratas 46-22 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Atleticos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 22 points and American guard OJ Mayo (193-87, college: USC) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Atleticos players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Piratas. Forward Luis Hernandez (198-88) added 13 points for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Atleticos maintains eighth position with 3-9 record. Defending champion Piratas keep the third place with five games lost. Atleticos will meet at home higher ranked Leones (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Piratas will play against the league's second-placed Capitanes and will have a slim chance for a victory.
