The game in Fajardo was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Humacao (6-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Cariduros (6-8). Humacao defeated Cariduros 86-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Humacao. Cariduros was better in third quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Humacao won last quarter 31-18. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Perrin Buford (198-94, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: 3Eye) fired 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Humacao players scored in double figures. American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Humacao maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Loser Cariduros keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Humacao will face bottom-ranked Atleticos (#8) in San German in the next round. Cariduros will play at home against Piratas and hope to win that game.
