Real Madrid fired past Gran Canaria to take the lead in the semifinal series. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 18 points. Real Madrid looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized Cape Verdean center Edy Tavares (220-92) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American-Azerbaijani Jaycee Carroll (188-83) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side international point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) responded with 6 points and 7 assists and the former international Pablo Aguilar (202-89) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
