The game in Fajardo was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Piratas (9-7) played at the court of 7th ranked Cariduros (6-9). Piratas defeated Cariduros 84-72. It looked good early as Cariduros took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Piratas had a 20-7 second period charge getting the lead and Cariduros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-84. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cariduros to just 7 points in second quarter. Piratas made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83, agency: Basket Management Solutions) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) responded with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Arecibo. Cariduros at the other side keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Piratas will play against Capitanes (#3) in Arecibo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cariduros will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
