Regular Season Round 12: Quebradillas - Arecibo 100-92

The game between Top Four teams took place in Quebradillas. Second ranked host Piratas (10-7) defeated one of their biggest challengers Capitanes (9-8) 100-92. Capitanes trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 28-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 92-100 at the end of the game. Piratas shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Capitanes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Jorge-Bryan Diaz (210-89, college: Nebraska) who added 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) with 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) scored 19 points. Four Piratas and five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-7 record having just three points less than leader Bayamon. Capitanes at the other side keep the third place with eight games lost. Piratas are looking forward to face Leones (#5) in Juana Diaz in the next round. Capitanes will play at home against Santeros and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
