Regular Season Round 13: Ponce - Quebradillas 83-89

Date: June 10, 2018
The game in Juana Diaz was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Piratas (11-7) played at the court of 5th ranked Leones (8-10). Piratas managed to secure a 6-point victory 89-83. It looked good early as Leones took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Piratas had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and Leones were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-89. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) nailed 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83, agency: Basket Management Solutions) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Michael Young (206-94, college: Pittsburgh) came up with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Leones in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Piratas. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-7 record having just three points less than leader Bayamon. Leones at the other side keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Piratas' next round opponent will be Humacao (#4) at home. Leones will play against Capitanes in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
