The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (15-5) in Coamo on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Santeros (8-11) 122-113. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Santeros dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Vaqueros' 56. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Vaqueros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St.) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) replied with 28 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and American swingman Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Vaqueros. Four Santeros and five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santeros moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fajardo. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Santeros is looking forward to face league's second-placed Piratas in Quebradillas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vaqueros will play on the road against Leones in Juana Diaz and are hoping to win this game.
