Very important is a road loss of second ranked Soles SD (4-2) against fifth ranked Caneros LR (2-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Soles SD was defeated by Caneros LR in a tough game in La Romana 87-96. The game without a history. Caneros LR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Caneros LR players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by naturalized Spanish center Jhonatan Araujo (208-96, agency: Basket Management Solutions) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and Elias Soliman supported him with 16 points and 8 assists. Even 28 points and 4 assists by Puerto Rican guard Hector Maldonado (185-91) did not help to save the game for Soles SD. Point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Five Caneros LR and four Soles SD players scored in double figures. Caneros LR maintains fifth position with 2-4 record, which they share with Titanes Licey. Soles SD at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Leones SD. Caneros LR will play against bottom-ranked Metros STGO (#7) in Santiago in the next round. Soles SD will play on the road against Indios SFM (#3) in San Francisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
