Regular Season Round 15: Humacao - Quebradillas 76-83

Very expected game when 6th ranked Humacao (8-12) was defeated at home by second ranked Piratas (13-8) 83-76 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Piratas outrebounded Humacao 47-30 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piratas made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83, agency: Basket Management Solutions) helped adding 18 points and 14 rebounds. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: NC State) with 19 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American guard Kyle Vinales (185-92, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: 011 Sports) scored 19 points. Piratas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-8 record having just three points less than leader Bayamon. Humacao lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Piratas will face league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Humacao will play at home against Leones (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
