Date: June 19, 2018
Bottom-ranked Metros STGO managed to get the second consecutive victory on Tuesday night. This time defending champion outleveled fifth-ranked Caneros LR in La Romana 107-81. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 26-point difference suggests that Metros STGO is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Caneros LR's 30. Metros STGO had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Point guard Adris De-Leon (180-84, college: E.Washington) stepped up and scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Five Metros STGO players scored in double figures. American guard Keith Appling (185-92, college: Michigan St., agency: Basket Management Solutions) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and naturalized Spanish center Jhonatan Araujo (208-96, agency: Basket Management Solutions) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (2-2) moved-up to fifth place. Loser Caneros LR dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Titanes Licey. Metros STGO will meet bottom-ranked Titanes Licey (#7) in the next round. Caneros LR will play against Indios SFM in San Francisco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
