Regular Season Round 6: Titanes Licey - Metros STGO 67-61

Bottom-ranked Titanes Licey managed to get a third victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Metros STGO in San Cristobal 67-61. They outrebounded Metros STGO 44-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-93, college: Florida Memorial) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Titanes Licey players scored in double figures. Even 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals by American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) did not help to save the game for Metros STGO. Naturalized American forward Angel Nunez (203-91, college: S.Florida) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Titanes Licey (3-5) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Caneros LR. Defending champion Metros STGO dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Titanes Licey will meet higher ranked Indios SFM (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Metros STGO will play against the league's leader Leones SD and hope to secure a win.
