There was a minor upset when 4th placed Rangers (9-8) were outleveled on the road by sixth ranked Hobart Chargers (8-9) 104-74 on Friday. Hobart Chargers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Sharna Thompson contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Hobart Chargers players scored in double figures. Hobart Chargers' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Tayla Roberts (191-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and center Rebecca Pizzey (190-99) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Rangers. Hobart Chargers maintains sixth place in League with 8-9 record. Loser Rangers dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Hobart Chargers will face Lady Bandits (#7) in Albury in the next round. Rangers will play at home against Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
