Regular Season Round 19: Quebradillas - Bayamon 87-90

Important game to mention about took place in Quebradillas. First ranked Vaqueros (19-9) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging their biggest opponent Piratas (17-11) 90-87 in the fight for the first place. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Vaqueros players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Angel Rodriguez (193, college: PR-Bayamon) accounted for 12 points, 11 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) came up with 29 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) added 15 points and 12 assists respectively for Piratas in the defeat. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vaqueros maintains first place with 19-9 record. Defending champion Piratas keep the second position with 11 games lost. Vaqueros will play against Atleticos (#7) in San German in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Piratas will play on the road against Capitanes (#3) in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
