Regular Season Round 20: Nunawading S. - Melbourne T. 104-62

Date: July 13, 2018
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Tigers (9-10) were outscored by second ranked Spectres (14-5) in East Burwood 104-62 on Friday. Spectres dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 45 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Spectres made 33 blocks. Power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Thomas Wright contributed with 24 points and 5 steals for the winners. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Center Deng Acuoth (213-96) replied with 12 points and 8 assists and forward Max Viitala (196, college: TWU) added 12 points in the effort for Tigers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spectres maintains second position in League with 14-5 record having just seven point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Tigers keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Spectres will face Bendigo Braves (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tigers will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers in Mt Gambier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
