Regular Season Round 20: Geelong S. - Bendigo B. 93-75

There was a small surprise when third ranked Geelong Supercats (12-7) won against at home one of their biggest challengers Bendigo Braves (10-8) 93-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Geelong Supercats. Bendigo Braves was better in second period 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Bendigo Braves' 34. Geelong Supercats had a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American players dominated also this game. Forward John Davis (196-94, college: Towson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Geelong Supercats' coach let to play all 12 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) replied with 25 points and 8 assists and forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) added 19 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Bendigo Braves. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats maintains third position in League with 12-7 record having just five point less than leader Mackay M. which they share with defeated Bendigo Braves. Loser Bendigo Braves keep the third place with eight games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Canberra Gunners (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Bendigo Braves will play against the league's second-placed Spectres (#2) in East Burwood and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
