Regular Season Round 20: NW Tasmania - Diamond V.E. 91-95

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (10-9) lost to seventh ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-12) in Ulverstone 91-95 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Diamond Valley Eagles had a 35-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Diamond Valley Eagles made 8 blocks. American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Joel Spear (192-94, college: S.Oregon) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Jeremiah Ingram (201-93, college: N.C.Central) replied with 24 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Lachlan Barker (179-96) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for NW Tasmania Thunder. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains seventh position in League with 7-12 record. Loser NW Tasmania Thunder keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face league's second-placed Ballarat Miners in Wendouree in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. NW Tasmania Thunder will play on the road against the league's leader Chargers and will have a slim chance for a victory.
