Regular Season Round 20: Bayamon - San German 81-74

Date: July 15, 2018
Leader Vaqueros delivered the twentieth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Atleticos (11-17) 81-74 in Bayamon. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 22-9 run, which allowed them to win the game. Vaqueros forced 21 Atleticos turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and forward Angel Rodriguez (193, college: PR-Bayamon) supported him with 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Even 31 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Atleticos. American-Portuguese Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Vaqueros maintains first position with 20-9 record. Atleticos at the other side keep the seventh place with 17 games lost. Vaqueros' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Capitanes in Arecibo and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos will play at home against Leones (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
