Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santo Domingo: Soles SD (#1) and Leones SD (#2). Soles SD (8-5) won against visiting Leones SD (7-7) 88-75. Soles SD forced 19 Leones SD turnovers. Strangely Leones SD outrebounded Soles SD 35-16 including a 30-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Courtney Fells (197-86, college: NC State) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Leones SD players scored in double figures. Soles SD maintains first position with 8-5 record. Leones SD lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with seven games lost. Soles SD will play against Caneros Del Este (#4) in La Romana in the next round. Leones SD will have a break next round.
