Regular Season Round 21: Fajardo - Humacao 92-95

A very interesting game took place in Fajardo. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Cariduros (14-17) to eighth ranked Humacao (10-20) 95-92 on Thursday evening. It looked good early as Cariduros took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Humacao had a 26-14 second period charge getting the lead and Cariduros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 92-95. Humacao made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Marcus Fillyaw (185-94, college: Ky Wesleyan) who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 assists and the former international point guard Alvin Cruz (186-82, college: Niagara) added 20 points and 5 assists respectively. Five Humacao and four Cariduros players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Humacao maintains eighth place with 10-20 record. Cariduros lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with 17 games lost. Humacao's next round opponent will be higher ranked Leones (#4) in Juana Diaz and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cariduros will play at home against the league's second-placed Capitanes where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
